The "Reporters des Pôles" contest was launched by the IPF within the scope of the Arctic Arc expedition. Youngsters were to produce a document that would help raise public awareness on an environmental issue valuable to the IPF. The quality of the documents recieved was such that the IPF decided to award a prize to each participating class!

The winners had produced an entire television newscast about " Water and Ice on Earth ". The International Polar Foundation's Executive Director made the trip to their school in France (St François de Sales de Dijon) to award them their prize. During a whole afternoon, students and teachers exchanged questions and impressions with Thierry Touchais on the themes they had addressed in their document.

The young Coline Bedoret, from Brussels, was awarded a special prize for her 60-page report entitled "the North Pole in Danger". She was invited to the IPF's headquarters in Brussels to receive her prize and to meet Alain Hubert and the IPF scientific and educational team.

Just before the end of the school year, the other classes also recieved their prizes : comic books, cd-roms, books, pencils and even t-shirts for the teachers !
