Schools make “Antarctica Day” flags to send to Princess Elisabeth Station
Schools around the world are making flags to celebrate Antarctica Day which is on December 1st
Antarctica Day celebrates the fact that Antarctica has been set aside as a place of peace and for science. After its first fifty years, the Antarctic Treaty shines as a beacon of international cooperation and has been signed by 50 different countries.
School classes are invited to make flags which include themes relating to Antarctica and submit them by 25th November (for display at Princess Elisabeth Station, Antarctica) or 7th December (to travel via New Zealand to Antarctica). Each participating school will receive a signed certificate.
To make your flags for Antarctica - please see full details of the activity here.
This activity is being organised together with Our Spaces, APECS and Polar Educators International. For other information on Antarctica Day you can also watch a short video and see flags from previous years on the Antarctica Day Facebook page.
