The Belgian Editor Clavis has just published a book in Dutch entitled "Blauwe Matrozen", "Blue Sailors" in English. Sandra Vanhove, from the IPF, collaborated on the project and wrote an afterword for the book.

This sparkling story features the world of a young girl, Anna, who is looking for her father in Antarctica. Her father, a scientific researcher, was on duty in the Antarctic during the winter but het never came home. The young girl decides to venture off by herself in the cold Antarctic, in search of her beloved father. She hides on a ship heading towards the South and meets Victor, a young fishermen, who helps her understand that to love also means to let go. This fascinating book is all about a dying father, growing up, friendships and... Antarctica!

The story is followed by an afterword written by Sandra Vanhove, scientific and educational officer at the IPF. She closes the book by extrapolating the problems that Antarctica is facing today with climate change and by laying out the Antarctic scenery, fauna, flora and climate. She also briefly presents Belgium's influence in Antarctica with, amongst other projects, the Princess Elisabeth Station within the context of the International Polar Year 2007-2009.
