In Partnership with the Walloon Ministry of Energy (Belgium), the International Polar Foundation and the WWF are developping a new multimedia CD-Rom on Biodiversity & climate change. This new CD-Rom will be presented and tested in Belgium during September and October 2007. The IPF is looking for Walloon schools for this pilot phase. Subscribe now.

Issues relating to climate change are now widely being developed in the media, but this is not always the case when it comes to biodiversity. Nonetheless, this question is of fundamental value to the health of our planet and humanity. While biodiversity is good to human beings, the latter exert tremendous ecological pressures that put biodiversity in danger. It is estimated that, in Belgium, a third to half the species are currently under threat, having of course social, cultural and economical implications for society.

In order to raise public awareness on this issue among the youngsters, the IPF is currently creating an educational CD-Rom about "Biodiversity & Climate Change". This CD-Rom will include 15 flash animations, each lasting 1 to 2 minutes. These animations explain various aspects of the effects of climate change on biodiversity, such as shifts in specie habitats, the disappearance of certain species, the introduction of new exotic species, modifications in Walloon ecosystems, the whitening of corals, phonologic changes, ...
