Online interactive comic book “The migration of the Ibanes”

From the 1st of September 2006, every two months, you'll find a new episode of the interactive comic book "The migration of the Ibanes". This comic book "The migration of the Ibanes" is the core of the "ClimaTIC" project. This interactive version has been created and will be progressively made available on the web between September 2006 and June 2007, introducing the project's different themes.

ClimaTIC Project

The ClimaTIC project aims to raise the awareness of the problems stemming from climate and other environmental changes, as well as sustainable development. During the school year 2006-2007, the project will offer educational tools, exchanges between scientists and reporters, as well as activities and small research projects to engage in around the school.

The Migration of the Ibanes: Teaching Dossiers update

The teaching dossiers linked to the comic book "The Migration of the Ibanes" have been updated. German and Italian versions of the dossier for teachers now include resources in their own languages. A content table has also been added in order to navigate easily in the dossiers. Miscellaneous changes have been included taking into account the remarks sent by teachers after testing activities. “Learn by images” activities

The International Polar Foundation has published a set of 10 images that complements the "learn by images" activity proposed in the teaching dossier for teachers. This new material allows teachers to extend reflection to other problems and, by this way, prompt discussion and analysis.

A new educational tool by IPF

IPF will soon launch a new educational project 'Puzzel je warm...experimenter je koud' (warm up with puzzle... cool down with experiments) where it shows the importance of polar research in the complex climate problem. By means of an interactive tool the project will address young people on Flemish public events, mainly during the International Polar Year.
