    Water is esssential for the Earth's meteorological and climatic system: Ocean water evaporates in warm regions and is then redistributed elsewhere by winds under the form of snow or rain; clouds are made of small water droplets or ice crystals; the big oceanic currents influence the temperature of many regions around the world.

    Alain Hubert and Dixie Dansercoer begin the second half of their adventure: The traverse of the Arctic Ocean liying between the North Pole and Greenland - A very rarely travelled route. Even if conditions are not looking easy, our two explorers are keeping unwaveringly high spirits !

    After many days of progress in very hard conditions, Alain Hubert and Dixie Dansercoer finally reached the North Pole ! And even though they faced recurrent storms, howling winds and opaque mists, what impressed them was the unusually "wet" environment in which they found themselves: the pack ice is melting.

    Alain Hubert and Dixie Dansercoer are approaching the North Pole and are keeping spirits high. They deserve all the credit, considering the week has been tough: weather conditions were really bad, the ice drift hindered them sometimes considerably and they had to cross numerous leads (open water chanels).

  • The Arctic Arc: First resupply

    13.04.2007

    Alain Hubert and Dixie Dansercoer are still progressing at a good pace towards the North Pole. Sunday evening, 8th of April, after 39 days on ice, a helicopter met up with them with the resupply goods nessary for the two men's survival.
