Scientists also capture fulmars and control them. The Southern fulmars are nesting in loose colonies around the Dumont d'Urville station. They belong to the same group as the albatrosses. However, their closest relative is the Northern fulmar, one of the commonest arctic bird, breeding from the North of France to the North of Greenland.
