Dr. Will Howard (University of Tasmania) is preparing the Multi-sensor Track (MST) for core analysis on board R/V Marion Dufresne. It investigates the core density, P-wave velocity (speed of sound) and magnetic susceptibility (metal-detector). These analyses might provide a fast and first insight of the core content, stratigraphy and probably age (in comparing with other cores).
