Sixty years after the King Baudouin base, the construction of the Princess Elisabeth Station sees the dawning of a new age for Belgium in Antarctica. This event has stirred the interest of the youth towards the Polar Regions. The International Polar Foundation therefore created educational dossiers with pedagogical sheets for the teachers and matching working sheets for the pupils. These documents have been published on the Internet in successive stages until March 2009 (the end of the International Polar Year).

This first dossier 'Belgians in Antarctica through the centuries' is designed to give the pupils a general overview of Belgium's role in Antarctica.
